    While I'm sure the answer you want for #1 is The Byrds, their contemporaries The Buffalo Springfield also had a fairly good mando picker as their bass player on their last recording.

    So, assuming we're talking Chris for the 1st, his BG band would be The Hillmen (as I recall).

    3'd be Ry Cooder

    I think the answer to #5 is Levon Helm (Helmsley?). But Im curious to know the Blood on the tracks picker.

    Mr. Simpson is the closest, except 4. is Peter O., someone above had it.
