Thread: I bought a Silvertone mandolin...

    ...a Silvertone mandolin on aug 12 for $275. Did i do good? i don't know diddly about mandolin, been playin' guitar for a long time so's i'm using that kinda knowledge along with mel bay,s. Important thing is i'm having fun...Martha was supposed to have been made late 40's early 50's. not as fancy as some i've seem but thass awwrite too...Marthas a blonde. I got to hold Jethro's mandolin before it went to its new owner...sweet...;-) Dan

    I don't think you got ripped off or anything, if that's what you're asking. I've seen people ask more than that for it. Is it the irregular-shaped body model?

    thanks glauber & eric...i don't think i know what you mean about "irregular shape...it pretty much looks like what i've seen described as an a shape...;-)

    I've seen Silvertones that looked like the one on this page. It's toward the bottom.

    hey eric! thanks for the welcome, naw its not irregular, it's definately an A solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, cool "herringbone" binding, white pick guard and GEIB case. Local store "Encore Music" tech re-set up neck and made "Martha" like new. I been playing too much...3-4 hours a day...mostly learning 1st position,and chop chords and how to change faster...i'm haveing a ball...wish i'd found mandolin same time i started guitar...

    Dan, Encore Music in ABQ? That's where I bought my Mid-Mo. Seem like pretty cool guys there. I gotta look and see if they have anything interesting this week.
