Ludewig Emory Lester model

Dale Ludewig has my deposit for an Emory Lester model hot in his hands. #I can hardly wait. #I already have a pic of the back if I can figure out how to post it. #

I hear Emory himself brought his EL model to Steve Kaufman Camp, and it caused a stir. #Comments camp attendees?

Emory Lester.......

1. Great instructor-he had his sig model in class. Most of us took him up on the opportunity to play it afterwards, along with the mandola.

2. Numerous appearances on stage in concert; solo and with others. He is inspiring and so down to earth in person.

3. I watched him in a fast paced informal jam with Steve Kaufman, Robin Bullock and a fiddler in the store ( I was the only one in there). They were all laughing, carrying on and trying to out do each other.

4. He is smooth and the notes ring crystal clear all the way up the neck. Tasteful and not overdone. His chops do not dominate the music, only compliments it.

Did I mention that I had a good time at Kaufmans Kamp?

Very cool. Congrats on the upcoming mando. I've admired Dale's instruments since I stumbled onto his home page a few years back. He seems like a good guy, too, so he meets the J. Mark Lane test of luthiers. How long is your wait likely to be?

Having problems posting the pic of the piece of curly maple for the back. Judging from what I've seen of the wait from other luthiers, I feel fortunate to have an estimated completion time of two or three months. Hardly enogh time to turn blue like one of Dale's cool mandos.

That's not bad at all. Here are the directions for posting a pic:

Click on Add Reply at top of page, next to New Topic. When that page opens, type in your post message and at the bottom of the page there is an option to attach a file. Click on browse and locate your jpeg image on your hard drive, highlight it and click on Open. Thats it.

You have to make sure your file size is small enough. Most digital photos are a zillion or so pixels. Your largest side has to be below 680 (maybe 640) to post it, otherwise you'll keep getting a message that says it's too big.

Oooh, purdy. That's a very cool mandolin, the EL Model. I was tempted myself, but I really do kind of like the traditional F5 style. Maybe for the next one....

Hi Bucket-

I was the fiddler in the Steve Kaufman / Robin Bullock / Emory Lester jam in the Mando Kamp store. #Played mando for a while, then switched to fiddle. #Then Steve and Emory and I went off to play for the clogging class...

Mando Kamp was indeed awesome, and I second the comments about Emory Lester as a super instructor (one of many there!) and an all-around nice guy. #

Emory's Ludewig A had both kick and clarity to it, with low action. #I tried out his Heiden F5 which was even more amazing, if that's possible.
