I was at a Greek/Serb festival Saturday in Appleton Wisconsin. Great music and food. The musicians played bazoukis and a mandolin. The mando was a Galliano. sounded great. I never heard of that make. Any info on the Gallianos.

Most of these look to be factory instruments. Mugwumps/Mike Holmes lists them as part of Oscar Schmidt in Jersey City. I have seen a few with the name of Raphael Ciani who I believe was John D'Angelico's uncle. These are somewhat fancier than the std Galiano bowlback.

This site also mentions a Stella guitar (also by Schmidt) with a label by A. Galiano.

I think Ciani was D'Angelico's maestro, but not a blood relative. Spelling is all-important: Gagliano vs. Galliano vs. Galiano.
