Likely got them from Grover..as he is in Cleveland OH...same as Grover.. I've seen some other Grover sell offs before..probably orders that were never sold.. These have been up while.. I stocked up last November.. I think they are 308 based tuners..

I search through mandolin tuning machines, tuners, pegs, etc. daily on eBay. I just realized that I never look at Grover tuners. I've been missing these for months. I have to change my search habits.

Probably should have bought two, but like Mike I don't actually have a need for them. I do have an old Gibson with gold tuners that should be sliver so will most like change them and keep the gold around. Thanks Mike for posting this. Email today they have shipped.

It was actually posted by fscotte. You need to thank them.
By the way, fscotte, thanks for posting this.

No thanks needed! I was being a little bit conniving by posting it. If the replies gave a thumbs up then I would buy a set. If the replies gave them a thumbs down, I wouldn't touch em. Well, I bought a set.

That was a good find in my book. If I'd seen them earlier I would have posted it.

Mine arrived today. They are A style tuners that are a match for the Gibson Grover tuners that came on my Gibson in 2005. The invoice has the number 310NS written on the invoice. I'm going to guess that's the model number. That number doesn't appear in any of the Grover catalogs I can find.

They've got a few more for sale.
Got mine. Compared to the 309, these have a better look, feel like sturdier metal, and have good tuner action. Why did Grover stop making these? I went ahead and bought another set. This is a steal. Could go down as deal of the year on MandoCafe Ebay forum.

Gibson stopped making A style mandolins after the flood I believe. Grover was under contract to only sell these tuners to Gibson. I'm assuming they got tired of inventorying the A Style. I believe Gibson is still using the Gibson Grover F style tuners. I read someplace that the Gibson Grovers were created as a replacement for the Schaller tuners Gibson used for a few years. I don't know if that is true or not but if they had their tooling and they didn't want to make changes it made sense. Again, I don't even know where I read that. If the F style tuners ever hit eBay you might want to grab those as well. They really are decent, substantial tuners. It is an excellent deal.

Same guy had a number of these at $25.00 end of last year also. Did not know they were Gibson. Bought a couple of sets at that price.

Bought two. Thanks for this. They'll definitely be an improvement on my Gotohs.
I just looked at my '99 Gibson A5L... yup exact tuners but satin silver. I LOVE the tuners on my Gibson, far superior to the current Grover 309.

These are both Schaller tuners on an A5G and an A5L. I thought the silver ones were Grovers, they aren't.
I was hoping I could find some A Style Gibson Grover tuners.

Bought some too, just because I can't resist a good deal. They look nice. Thanks for the heads-up, fscotte! Am keeping them on hand for the next time I change strings on an instrument that needs an upgrade.

Nice. The Allen and James are the only two I know of.
James tailpieces are available several places. The only place I've seen all the Allen's is here:
