John was definitely one of the great luthiers of our time!
Wonderful! More pics please.

John is such a gentleman in addition to his great luthier skills. It's a pleasure to know him.

I could not go by the DC area without a stop in to see what John was up to. A great luthier in all the sense of the Loar!

Since the Loars didn't get good till about 1985, that Paganoni will probably sound good in another 15 years.

John snapped this photo of some bums with old mandolins at Denton...

I had the pleasure of being owner of Paganoni DL-8 for a few years and it was pretty darn good mandolin! John told me he used 3 different kind of finishes on those mandolins, the color was spot on for some 24 Loars, The matte type finish on top was very thin and if you weren't careful you could wear it off real easy! I let it go to my own amazement for something else, I do have a pag case fetish and have a few, they are my favorite cases that house some old fine sounding Mutts that I have. I will O yes get another Paganoni someday. I also know my Uncle Dick Smith was great friends with him and he told me John built fabulous/meticulous models. I want to say trains? Not sure if I'm right on that but it was some sort of minute models?
I also know John put his great finish work on other builders mandolins, such as a Hutto for sure and a few mandos made by the maker of Rigel mandolins Pete "can't think of his last name" Langdell was it? Pry others as well. A true artist and craftsmen.
