    Default MT2-O Italian/Birdseye Tone

Buying this Collings instrument without a test drive and mostly going on Cafe experience, I was concerned that the new instrument would not sound as well as the merlot MT-O that I sold to get it. (I always regretted selling an earlier MF for an MF5). In reviews, many have reported better sound with a brands less appointed cousin. All this being said, the MT2-O is a superior instrument with a tone that belies its price. There is a complexity and sophistication that truly surprised me. Yet, the MT2-O is actually louder than its less refined cousin the MT-O. I feel really blessed for the MT2-O and glad I was willing to make the leap of faith. Thank you all for you encouragement.

I think it varies instrument to instrument, but a Collings is usually a safe bet if you are buying from afar. I have played several of the "Italian spruce" models that are made in the MT2 line and all have been really fantastic!
Glad your new mandolin is as well!

All, I removed the typo and references to it. I believe they were genuinely accidental and would prefer the conversation stay on the mandolins and not the typographical error.
