Default Gibson Grover Button Screw size

Over the years we've had several folks that lost button screws for their Gibson Grover tuners. These are different than normal Grover tuners but this part could be the same.

The screw size for the buttons appears to be M2.5X10. You can get that in stainless but I don't know where you could get one in the dull silver like the original. You also probably won't find the same round slot headed screw with the built in washer. You'll probably find pan head or cheese head and no washer. An M2 washer will thread itself onto that screw. It's tight but it will fit.

Google is your friend in something like this but I've had good luck with www.mrmetric.com.

Again, I don't know about the normal Grover screws, I don't have a set to check.

I don't know about stainless, but if you put paint remover on chrome, it will dull it way down.

I might make finishing and changing the color of things like screws a project. I've been researching turning stainless black.

Chlorine is supposed to rust stainless, that may be a way to dull it down if you don't let it go too far.

It is an oxidizer. Probably have to time that one correctly. Good thought.

PC etching compound should work too.

That's an even better idea. Again, it has to be timed just right.
