    Default New Jam in Seattle

A new bluegrass jam has just formed at the Machine House Brewery in the Georgetown neighborhood in Seattle. We're meeting the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 7 to 9 (the place closes around 9). We've gathered twice so far, and had a about a dozen players. Low key, a mix of relative beginners and more advanced players so far. Several mandolins, guitars, a few banjos, a bass player -- no fiddle yet! Come by and join us!

Hey Bad Monkey, sorry for taking so long; I blame Wintergrass. I don't run the thing, but I show up a lot. Here's a list of songs from an earlier email that was sent out. I wouldn't say it's strictly bluegrass, but I'd leave the Dylan medley at home.

"Once again here's a sampling of songs played:
    June Apple
    In the Pines
    Wabash Cannonball
    Soldier's Joy
    Long Journey Home
Roll in my Sweet Baby's Arms
    Angeline the Baker
    Arkansas Traveler
    Boil them Cabbage Down
    Nine Pound Hammer
    Whiskey Before Breakfast
    Will the Circle Be Unbroken
    Blackberry Blossom
    Shady Grove
    Old Joe Clark
    Salt Creek
All the Good Times are Past and Gone"

I wish it was a little closer, and I knew the city better, and I had my mandolin with me! I'm in town this week for a conference, but I traveled Mandolin free.

Oh, I've got spare mandolins I can bring. Can't help with the rest, though.

So, would the next one be April 5?
    Thanks

Several mandolins of varying quality-any one of which deserves a better player than I am.......

I quote from the email I recently received:
"The next jam will be Wed, April 5 starting at 7pm."

Seeing how you're from out of town, Mike, PM me and I can give you my number to text if you get at all lost or otherwise could use some local help. It can be a little tricky to get to even for a local, though both Apple and Google map programs have no problem routing you there correctly.

I'll be moving up to Issaquah at the end of the month. Is there a newsletter or bluegrass association where these events and others are posted?

There's also the Seattle area BG Meet up page: https://www.meetup.com/seattlebluegrass/

A few more folks on the Eastside and we can start a jam for those that get tired of driving to Seattle. 😀

And welcome to WA, Mark. I'm 30 minutes away in Redmond. PM me for...I dunno, whatever. Local tips/advice, a ride to The Machine House on Wednesdays...

Yep. Check out WA BG Association. We also have several festivals in the coming months. First one is in two weeks in Darrington. A week later in Stevenson, WA is the next. WA BG Assoc puts on a festival in Toledo, WA in August. There is another on Labor Day weekend in Ferndale, WA. There are also numerous jams around the area. The one you would most likely enjoy is in Maltby, which is the first Saturday of the month. It's about 30 minutes from Issaquah.

We should be in our place around Aug 5 or 6. Looking forward to meeting folks and playing some music!
