I came to Irish music late, so I started with Dervish (and Michael Holmes) and then started working sideways and backwards towards Planxty and the Bothy Band. I started moving forward with Roger Landes & Dan Beimborn's CDs.

I've been trying to get my hands now on anything that Aaron Jones is playing on. (He's currently in Old Blind Dogs.) I bought a couple of CDs by Mary Custy & Eoin O'Neill that showcased the zouk well.

BUT... It's that Michael Holmes sound on the Crump and the Sobel sound of the arch top from most others that I think of when I think of Irish Bouzouki. I solved my issues with having different auditory feelings by getting a Nyberg arch top bouzouki for the Sobel sound and a Crump large body octave mandolin for that booming sound.

Matt Molloy has a couple of albums with Donal Lunny that really stand out for me.
