Default Replacement tailpiece for Gypsy Octave Mandolin

I have a Gypsy Octave mandolin built by Walt Kuhlman I believe.
It has a tailpiece which requires ball end strings which I'd like to change to one that can handle loop end strings. It is unusual in that it attaches to a central endpin via a length of chord rather than being screwed to the body. I haven't been able to find a replacement that would attach in the same way. Does anyone have any suggestions please?
