Default Multiple instruments - help needed

    Hi all,

I'm going to appeal to the wisdom of the forum to help me identify something I need but don't know the name for.

I've played acoustic instruments most of my life, and where I play most often, that has involved an acoustic/electric guitar that I run through a direct box to the sound board and a microphone for other instruments.

I've recently added an OM with a pickup, and I'd love to be able to use it without having to rely on a mic. Problem is, I don't want to occupy yet another input. Is there anything out there that would either: 1) allow me to mute the signal between my instrument and the soundboard so I can unplug/plug in without all the nice crackly sounds, or 2) even better, something that would allow me to run both the guitar and the OM into a box and then switch between them?

I feel certain such things exist but don't have the foggiest clue what to google.

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, Fire-Eye makes a Red Eye DI with 2 switchable inputs. I have used it with great ease in stage switching between a guitar and bouzouki. It has separate gain and treble adjustments for each input. It sounds great.

I'll sometimes use three different instruments so I use a Morley A-B-C. However the switches are not silent - it will pop right thru the amp/PA. So I have the single out of the A-B-C go into my Redeye, with a tuner/mute pedal in the Redeye loop.

I use the Radial BigShot I/O True Bypass Selector Switch. I like the mute switch to keep any changes I may have to make silent.

Got one of these too. Worked great switching between a Mandocello and Mandolin. Can plug a tuner in to a separate jack.
