    Default Ozark albums

Forgive me if there's already a thread on this, but I searched and didn't see one.

I'm looking for recommendations for albums/musicians of Ozark fiddle tunes. Figure it'd be cool to bring some tunes to friends here in Virginia that are a little more esoteric.

    Thanks

Do a search for Lonnie Robertson, Lyman Enloe, and Cyril Stinnet.
There is a lot of information on www.missourifiddling.com
    and also www.voyagerrecords.com.
Mel Bay had a book of Ozark fiddle tunes that is a great resource.

    This is a classic.......

It inspired me to take a bus from NJ to Timbo Arkansas when I was 19 years old, I even got to stay with Jimmy Driftwood and his wife.

you have to trial and error on the play buttons to find the fiddle tunes or click advanced search and type "fiddle" in the search field and you'll have a great selection of Ozark tunes.

The two (or three? can't remember) records of Echoes Of the Ozarks (link is to Vol. 1) are a great source for 1920's-30's fiddle tune recordings. I have the LP's from County Sales, decades ago.

Here is a fine collection from the 1963 festival in Mountain View AR http://web.lyon.edu/wolfcollection/blurb1.html The Spring festival in coming up in a few weeks again too. Always the third weekend in April (April 14 & 15 this year). If you want to hear some real Ozark Fiddling (in the Ozarks), well here your chance. But also lots of music last weekend in October too during Beanfest (dont ask). Good Luck!
