Default Another Job for the Gibson Detective Agency

Is this what they claim it is? I had thought, if Gibson marked one of its cases, they used an attached metal plate on the outside. This looks like a tag (leather) that might be attached at one end, inside the case. Here's the EBay link.

Looks pretty much like this one that Elderly sold for $75 used. Don't think Elderly would call it "Gibson" if it weren't.

Yes. It certainly does. The seller did say that the Gibson tag was riveted. This one looks the same. Thanks!

FWIW, many years ago I bought an F-style case for a mandolin; I had been concerned about its rattling around in a vintage case, and wanted something a bit more protective.

It had the name "Gibson" on it in gold-tone lettering, probably silk screened, I guess. I don't think it was made by Gibson, in fact I don't know whether they ever made cases, or merely had them outsourced. I recall using a magic marker to cover the lettering, feeling that it would only encourage an enterprising ripoff artist.

As they sometimes say, "Nothing is real: all is permitted." Opinions differ on that, of course.

Looks legit to me, don't want it or need it but, I don't see any reason to doubt it.

Does anybody know what model shipped in those cases and when? It can't be all that old.

AFAIK Gibson just uses standard TKL cases; what's the big deal (on the part of the seller)?

It says Gibson on it. That's pretty much the big deal. When I bought my F5G in 2005 it shipped in a Travelite. I just gave a TKL that housed a friend's F5 Fern when she bought it to my son-in-law with an MK in it. I'm sure this is a decent shaped case but it's no great shakes.

I'm focusing more now on the Hawaiian shirt. Made in USA.

When the shipping prices exceed the price of the item you know you've hit paydirt.

Not my Hawaiian shirt pattern of choice but, if it makes your socks go up and down, you should go for it!

What do you guys make of this case? http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-MAND...gAAOSwopRYcTK~

I've never seen lining like that in a proper Geib case. Is this perhaps a vintage case that's been relined?
