Among clothing items, Curly Sechler's biography, Foggy Mountain Troubadour, by Penny Parsons. Another in the decades-long series of wonderful folk and country music publications by the University of Illinois Press.

Oh, also a copy of my son's first book, Assymetric Politics. Proud Parent Alert...

We have a house full of adopted cats and one ittibitty adopted dog, so no Christmas trees for us although we're very much into Christmas spirit... While my wife and I are both looking forward to retirement, we're both still working now so we can be a bit more liberal with Christmas gifts, both within the family and reaching out to friends and the community.

The family and friends part of that started early with my "$199.00 solid F style mandolin", many thanks to Mike Edgerton. This acquisition was because I wanted a nice "beater" mandolin that we could travel with, without regrets. It has turned into a really nice mandolin at a remarkably liberating price. And that has also tuned into gifts for a few of our mandolin-leaning friends...

I felt my wife should also have a travel instrument, so while I was shopping at MF, I ordered a "Little Martin" LX1 for her. And then I also ordered 4 name-embossed Blue Chip TPR-40 picks for her to use with each of her guitars instead of moving the single one one to whatever instrument is being used. The LX1 sounds quite good for a small-body guitar, with neck playability what my wife is used to with her other Martin guitars, so she is a happy camper.

While I was busy being Santa with instruments, Mrs. Clause was busy too. She arranged a nice weighted-key upright keyboard for our son's fiance and also a number of other nice gifts for each of us, including some wonderful lined wool house socks that I and a number of the family and friends are cozily wearing right now.

It's been a very nice Christmas here, for family and friends. I hope the same for all of our forum communities.

We're having lots of fun playing through the tunes. He left a toaster too but it's not as much fun.

Excellent choice! I have that same metronome, except mine is a dark reddish brown color. It's sitting on top of my piano. I have used that metronome for about 40 years now (no telling how long it's been in my family), and it was the bane of my childhood piano lesson experience. That sucker will tick-tock its way into your nightmares if you over-use it. It has a very loud action. I've tried various electronic metronomes over the years, but always seem to come back to this vintage one. I just can't cotton to the "chirpy" sound of electronic metronomes.

I hope it gives you years and years of well-timed playing, LOL!

Mandolin/music related ... we got our oldest son John Reischman's new book "Up in the Woods". There were also some guitar strings and a Blue Chip pick that's still on it's way here. Feeling very fortunate ...

What I meant to spell, was Asymmetric Politics.

No snide comments about the original misspelling please, though I would agree that this year's politics had, to some extent, ass-symmetry...

I actually took delivery a week and a half before, but was headed out of town that same day so I went ahead and waited one more after returning to make it where my new Northfield F5SA was under the tree for the morning of the 25th (still in the plain shipping box but who cares!). With extended family obligations interfering, I didn't get to play it for more than a few minutes until tonight, where I earlier spent a good 2-plus hours getting properly acquainted after a super-busy 1st day back at work. MAS is sated for a long, long time and I'm more motivated than ever to get in as much time picking as possible each and every day.

Not a great picture, but it's what I have until a proper photo session:
