I have a 04 MM. Mine came with a pickguard, and it is NOT scopped on the finger board. I was at Mandolin Bros. today, and played a 05 MM. It comes without a pickguard, and the fingerboard WAS scopped. I didn,t think they would do that, due to keeping it org.

..was the '05 a custom model?..just wondering out loud here....why would it not have a pickguard and would have a scalloped FBE.....doesnt seem in the same vibe as what the MM is all about....

I had 04 on the brain becasuse I saw one. Yes pics of an 05 would be great. I saw a pic on Gryfon musics site and it is a kinda weird color IMO. Looks sorta like a 80's model banjo (yuk) I hope that's not some new color scheme. Doesn't look loarish at all. Maybe it's just the picture.

Of course w/ Gibson's crazy policy of web pic etc. I guess we won't be able to see pics any more unless they are used.

I heard lots of flak about Gibson's new marketing policies. I found it confusing when I was browsing the Janet Davis site and saw all this Gibson stuff with pictures and for sale -- http://www.janetdavismusic.com/gibman.html

I thought that was verboten now.

I think I know the answer on that. Janet Davis is the ONLY internet dealer. Everybody else has to sell with in their territory. I HATE TO GET OFF ON THIS GIBSON POLICY STUFF. I JUST WANNA SEE SOME MORE MASTER MODEL PICS!!

Yes Mike the 05 MM had that Gibson sound, and the feel of the neckj was to die for. The neck was like my 04, my 01 is differant, but still nice.

    no pics.
played Skip Gorman's '04 ('05? but probably '04) in March. looked great. no pickguard. scooped? I don't think so. sounded superb, and far better in his hands. he was getting used to it and enjoying it.
I am always humbled when my mentors so graciously share their instruments with me. such a treat.

Actually there are some '24 Loars that are very much like the color of the Master Model at Gryphon.

I don't see the yuk! It is actually very similar in appearance to the 24 Loar I had for a good many years, but maybe not quite as dark. But that one has 80 years of aging. Maybe with a little time?

You can get your MM with a scalloped or non scalloped Fingerboar, pickguard or no pickguard, radius or flat board. Just like anything else, you can get them pretty well customized for your tastes. If different specs are not requested we generally do the unscalloped FB and a flat board. However, it is no problem to do the other.

My 2002. I know it`s not new, but thought you might like to com pair with some new pictures that might be posted here. Fretboard scooped ala Dave Harvey at Gibson. Pick guard removed. Actually, I`m getting use to playing it without the guard on. # #

My photos don`t do this instrument justice!
