Aaron, maybe you can help me solve a question I've had for a while.

How do you get that tone?

I mean this in the best way possible... It sounds like your strings are dead, and your intonation is ever so slightly off --- like if you just picked up a mandolin that had been sitting in a closet for a decade. Or, if you were to play this above the 12th fret on an archtop guitar with super high action.

Is it as simple as some combo of all those things? Or are you wielding some Jazz Illuminati secret?

Fantastic, as always! I bought your chord melody book but I don't sound like you yet.

Well ..... thanks A. W. for another excellent foray into chord melody. I have to admit I didn't recognize the song. On my most recent visit to Carter's Vintage in Nashville I played a used Red Diamond F5 model and found it to be a lovely instrument. My ears said OH YEAH! but my wallet, alas, was light. Master luthier MacRostie makes a fine instrument and you certainly make yours sing. I look forward to Tuesdays these days....... R/
    I love hanging out with mandolin nerds . . . . . Thanks peeps ...
