I suppose most long term Cafe members have heard the Bill Monroe / Lester Flatt ''interview'',but for any folks who haven't,here it is.
It's one of the funniest things i've ever heard, especially when BM & LF get to verbally 'sniping' at each other. You have to watch it on YouTube these days,so left click on YT,

You know, sometimes I think people post the same thing too often, Ivan's post is NOT one of those. I don't care who has posted that or when, every time I listen to it I laugh like a fool! Then I follow it with the Keith Whitley interview where he does "Rub It It" a la Lester Flatt, then I'm pretty much without any control of laughter for another day! Someone just says "rub" and I crack up.

First time I heard either of those, I had to replay them more times than I could count . . . and laughed all day. I can hear Earl's voice rubbin' it in in my head now

I just watched all 7 of the ''Bill Monroe interviews'' about 15 minutes ago & almost dissolved laughing. Either Bill Monroe was very naive in some of the things he said,or he had the driest sense of humour ever - very, very funny,

Tim - Can you please post a link to the Keith Whitely interview,i've not even heard of it,

A story that I heard....a little boy came up to Bill and said, I`m 12 years old and I play mandolin also, been playing now for about 6 months", Bill said, "Thats nice, do you play like I do?" and the young boy said, "No, but I used to"...I just don`t believe it is a true story but thought I would share it with you good folks on here...

Yessiree, Timothy, funny stuff, and the Vassar Turkey story too! This is one of my favorite all-time music programs, I've watched it repeatedly - a four-disc set that's worth every penny of its cost. Bobby is a really funny guy to listen to, his mannerisms are as funny to me as what I hear about Bill Monroe's own. There are lots of stories on this program about interesting things, and the music is top rate. I posted excerpts only that pertained to Mr. Monroe for the historical value and for the laughs. Others have posted much of the music from this program on YouTube. But if you like the music, and the stories, there is a lot more great stuff there and I hope that people who enjoy this will consider asking Santa for the set. Four DVDs of program, and one backstage DVD. Title is "Simply Bluegrass" - NFI.

I'll have to re-visit those stories to try to make out what Bobby Osborne was saying at times. Here's another clip that folks most likely have already seen, but for those who haven't :- Glen Duncan taking off Bill Monroe.
