Default Thanks for doing it right

Due to some travel to various places with less then stellar internet access, and recent problems with the local provider, I have had lots of trouble with slow or unresponsive websites.

But, it seems, if there is any connection at all, the café works. In extreme cases it may slow down, but I haven't even seen a lot of that. It just works as expected and does what its supposed to. Even, at times, when Google or Facebook, or Amazon doesn't respond, the café keeps working.

I don't know the technical details that makes the café more robust, but, like other complex things - I think what I am experiencing is good design. All the little choices made in every feature that keep the overall operation in mind, and keep things less likely to go belly up fins out.

From an "appliance operator" perspective I appreciate it.

    Thanks.

    I agree, Jeff.
I seldom experience problems with the Cafe's website, which makes reading all your fine contributions here easier!

Interesting, Jeff. I live in an area of glacially slow broadband here in my part of scotland and the Cafe has never been a problem even when other sites hang or respond very slowly. the videos can do alot of buffering, but it's something we have learned to put up with, and my speed of around 2mbs - yes, that slow! - is a lot better than the old dial-up! I had not thought about the design factor till it was mentioned in this thread.

Mostly text, no popup ads are the ticket for low byte traffic and fast response. And what could all those whistles&bells mean to players of acoustic instruments?

MC is probably the most stable site I've ever used. Good job, Scott & gang.

I agree. Solid as a rock, reliable, and a pleasure to use. Thank you.

Its true though. I have several places in my home where the wifi from the office is weak, and in those places Mandolin Café is the only website I can count on. Something, likely many things, were done right. I don't have the expertise to know exactly what, but I am sure it was deliberate.

Yes. Two nerds... I set things up so we have the raw horsepower, but Scott is the other 98% of making each page, each image, and all the design fit in as little space as possible.

All that adds up. I use the cafe instead of google to test new internet connections!

That is one end of the range. The other is that web site with the 25 celebrities you didn't know had artificial limbs.
