Collings in classifieds

I just noticed in the classifieds a Collings MT2 and MF5 for sale by different owners but each has the serial number 91.Does Collings number by instrument style? It seems some builders number consecutively regardless of style. Comments? Inquiring minds want to know-or maybe not!

I would think the numbrer is per model. I have MT #800 and don't the MF5 5's are that high up yet.

I don't know exactly, but the MF-5 S/N's are well above 100.

Just had this question come up tonight at dinner with a friend that bought a not very used MT-2 S#496. I've learned that Collings has a seperate serial number run for the A's versus the F's. Does anybody else do that? Kenc
