First off i want to say what a good guy Stephen is to deal with at Gianna Violins . To give you a little backround - I've owned some really nice high end mandolins and it killed me to sell a few of them , but due to some tough times financially i had no choice. I first played some Eastman mandolins at a local store here and was amazed at the tone and quality of these instruments , and the price gave me hope that i could own a nice F5 mandolin in the near future. I saw in the classifieds some blem Eastmans discounted at Gianna Violins and after talking with Steve i went with the blemished 615 ( pic on website , but looks 100 % better in the flesh ).
The first impression i got when it came out of the box was how pretty this baby was and the blem were hardly visible , the tone was very midrange with a great sounding *G* string IMHO , reminded me of a Gibson F5L a little - the neck is very Gibson like with those little frets ( take some getting used to )and a nice V style neck - Wow ! I dont get how a mando at this price can sound this good , but it's true...

Thanks for the kind words. I keep asking for blems because I know some folks really can't handle the normal price on mandolins.

    Hi,

Welcome to the Eastman family! I've played some real killers lately..Biscuit (another cafe member) has got an A that has a killer chop!
I saw your blem at Gianna before you got it..I'm glad that worked out for you. There didn't appear to be much at all wrong with it, and Steve is a good hand at such things.
