Funny, I don't see it in the Classifieds, or on Ebay. Is this a secret sale?

Except no one took the bait.

Is this similar to the Paganoni thread a year or so ago?

Let me just jump in and say "Big Brother" is watching...
If there is any compulsion to covertly shill product here in the Message Board, this thread (and any like it) can easily disappear with the click of a mouse.

let me say that ,this was not a post to help sell the instrument i did not even list it until last night ,as for the Paganoni thread a year ago ,i still have the Pag.and do not intend to sale ,both post were to try to find more info on the builders,as Tucker and Paganoni both combined have built less than 100 mandos and there is just not that much info on them ,i have bought, sold, and traded mandos for over 8 years and no way have posted all or posted to help sell them .this is one of the best places to get info on small builders, with the exception of some members who chose not to help but to accuse
it just seems list members such as Tim have nothing better to do but sit by and jump on a chance to ,accuse someones post, look at the second post ,hes the one who asked if it was for sale!!!

That isn't the issue. #The issue is whether or not the thread was started to build interest for the sale that was posted a week later.

But, I don't run this site. #I initially thought I might be providing insight to a new or occasional member of the board but that isn't my job either.

Mr. Clark I apologize and will never comment on your posts again.

I would just try to not ask info (unless that is truly what you want) because you are going to know the value of a mando before you buy it (especially since you obviously have the internet) and then try to resale it here. #The reason Tim even commented is because of your past posts and then selling it after generating interest. #If you want info do a search on google or yahoo. #Don't post it on here unless you really want to know about the instrument and not to bring up the builder's name just to sell it. #Pretty simple.

    If F-model mandolins have F-holes then why don't A-model mandolins have A-holes???

danny and i corresponded from the paganoni thread, and it IS hard to find info on some of these makers - if you dont find it on the cafe or co-mando, then your not gonna find it -
from our emails, danny has some really nice/neat stuff, i didnt realize there was a history of pumpin the sale from his posts - btw, i didnt see a pag for sale after the pag thread, as a matter of fact, danny told me he bought ANOTHER ONE (he is the only guy who could find 2 pags in a months time) so maybe the tables turned on danny that time and instead of pumping others interest, he pumped his own! hehehe.

danny, when you go to sale those pags, dont pump em here on the cafe, drop me a line first!!

oh, and as for tucker owners, my old bandmate had an early A model. they were very nice players instruments, and melvin is a great guy.
he bought that A for $1100 and i think he finally sold/traded it and made out pretty good. neither one of us was really awed by it - but for the money ($1100) you couldnt beat it - the price they are going for now, IMO is over the top. these were great instruments for us performers cause the sounded great and were cheaper than the big boys - melvin attended many of the festivals we all went to - but for what they seem to be selling for now, i just cant see it.
i thought waynes #9 sounded better than steffys gil on the bluegrass 95/96 series, and the A that Lawson played on the last bluegrass album band was mighty sweet too - of course, these are 2 master players that could pull tone from an 2x4.

Ted - I'm curious about one thing though...what if a seller was to openly post a thread discussion about a mandolin that was was for sale on the classifieds? #I think the issue here is that we have examples of people trying to disguise the real intent and that's the issue, correct?

Good night! #Who gives a rip. #maybe Danny should have as his sig line "Tucker for sale" then it would be ok?

Danny, if you're trying to sell, good luck, if not, well good luck anyway. #If someone wants to sell something here, there's a good way to do it, just use it as your sig line, that way you're being up front.

Pete, I generally try to steer clear of these conversations, but out of respect for you (someone I hold in esteem and have associated with on this forum for what, five years?), I'll give you my opinion...
You nailed it--a suspicious pattern of building "intrigue" out of a masked position of "neutrality." (Such a pattern was established by others who are no longer part of the brethren here.) We don't want to repeat the mistakes of history, and for those of you who are new around here, my humble apologies. Disrespect me, think poorly of the moderators, but ultimately, you'll have to trust we are acting in the best interests of protecting the new and the naive.
(Yes, there are still people out there who claim "I believe it. I read it on the internet.")
As Neal just mentioned, a simple signature line removes all doubt. I fully intend to discuss the things I sell, but only with full disclosure of my intent.

I'll tell you all a story. I was a new member right here and there was a post about Stiver mandolins. Well, not knowing much more than what was being posted, I did a google for Stiver mandolins and the number 6 hit was an auction house that had one in their upcoming auction. They thought the mandolin would bring something around $700 to $1100 and listed that as their range. I had never played one, new almost nothing about them, but called in a bid of $765 over the phone. Guess what, I won it for $750.00! I also learned alot about the Stiver mandolin - ha. It's in my poor man's keeper collection too!

Why do I tell this story? 'Cause it's true, if you want to get information on a mandolin you can find it here and on the web.

O.k. it's late, but as I read this thread, that's what I thought of.

Now will somebody tell us about Tucker mandolins (no I'm not buying. . . .)?

    Ted,

Thanks for the response, that is pretty much what I thought. #The issue is not really one of discussing an item you may have for sale, but attempting to disguise that fact in order to drum up business.

I'm not altogether sure that's what happened here, but this group is pretty good at determining these things.

Has it been 5 years? #I guess I can add some perspective for those that have been around since old days in two words...Reverend Ted! (No relation to mandohack!)
