    I know, this piece has been posted multiple times before by players better than me, but wanted to show off my recently repaired Markneukirchen mandolin (any comments welcome!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Us9d1P0C51A

    The mandolin has a nice sound, looks nice and seems to have a good set up. I have been practicing this piece for almost a year now. It's not an easy piece. You did a great effort. I would suggest you use a metronome to adjust your tempo.

    Good work, you have done well to commit all of that to memory! I know how hard it can be because I too have been trying to learn that piece for a long time. If I can offer any advice from my experiences, I would suggest slowing things down a little until you can get those few rogue notes that are not fretted cleanly under control. I have to do the same thing when I can't quite get a part right, and it works for me. It's difficult to keep it slow and in time though, when your mind is telling you to play faster. Good luck

    You made it fun for us because you were having fun. ;
    Tell us about your mandolin, how you acquired it and where it was made.
    Good job, Scot!

    Hey, great memory! This is the thing that's always put me off that piece - seems like it's more a feat of memory than anything else! It is fun to play though.... keep up the good work, John.

    I am honored by your compliments and am glad you enjoyed it. Bill, there's a thread about this instrument in bowlbacks of note, about halfway down this page, including Victor's help in identifying it: http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/sh...markneukirchen

    I have a Markneukirchen mandola on the way, just purchased via German ebay. Will keep you posted on its state and repair.

    Thank you for the reference to your post about this lovely and most unique mandolin, Scot.
    Looking foward to future posts about your mandola.
