    Default Clifftop Logistics?

OK, this is really late planning, but...

We're thinking of going to Clifftop, and we have some purely practical questions (e.g. no mandolin content). We just moved to the area last year, and were close enough to take the 2 hour drive for the day (Saturday) last year. We went mostly for fiddle shopping. So it seemed pretty cool, and we've been talking idly about camping there.

However, campsites seemed pretty crowded, and what I read is that people get there a week early. That's not in the cards for us workwise, but is it too late to find a place to park/camp if you arrive say Friday - Sunday?

There is always room for one more, unlike a traditional campground there are no defined sites, just be respectful of your neighbors and fit in where you can. There is an overflow area and shuttle bus if you need it too. The event concludes Saturday night with a concert but jamming continues into the wee hours, Sunday morning is for pack up. Hope you can make it.

There is always room just down the hill at the entrance gate, and a shuttle up the hill or a short walk actually.

By not getting there early what you really miss is one heck of a lot of fun jamming and playing and finding old friends and making new ones.

I say Clifftop: Come two days early and you are already three days late.
A talent for trivializin' the momentous and complicatin' the obvious.

We showed up mid-day on Friday, and it looked like it would difficult to find a spot up top, but the lower parking lot had more than enough places to set up, and looked flat. We found a spot on the way to the water tower that someone had clearly just left, but I can't imagine how more people could squeeze in down by the basketball courts and beyond. But we were not the last ones there, and people seemed to squeeze in. We had friend who showed up the Saturday prior, and said it was difficult to find a spot.

We were only there for one day, but it was a good time, and we came home with an extra banjo. Sleeping was pretty rough, but maybe you get used to it after a few days. Music was going until at least 5 AM!

Will need to stay longer next time, and will shoot for earlier.
