I love this video arrangement from the article "The work of Italian luthier Corrado Giacomel featured on Fretboard Journal". So I thought I'd share it here.

Magnificent. Everything about it.

There are two things to aim at in life: first, to get what you want; and, after that, to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind achieve the second. Logan Pearsall Smith, 1865 - 1946

This is another video from the same session, this time with two different Giacomels. I would love to hear how people describe the difference in tone between the two instruments.

While I have nothing but respect and praise for the playing in both of these videos, the fact that the recording was done in a highly reflective room makes it hard to comment on the sound of the instruments. The first video makes it a little easier, because of the guitar and mandolin audio spectrum don't overlap as much, but in the 2nd video there are 2 instruments with nearly the same range, and the addition of the reverberation that accentuates higher frequency reflections makes it very hard to comment on the character of the sounds of the individual instruments when they are playing single notes.

Seen this before and I really dig the Vivaldi piece.
Glad there hasn't been anyone advertising/selling those modern "Blowbacks". I am sure the Dawg could find out the price, but I couldn't afford the divorce...
FWIW I am not sure if Carlo is playing that Giacomel as his main instrument any more. The only mandolin I see on his web site or his Facebook page is his trusty Pandini.
