It's been a long and difficult birth, but it's finally here:

And finally... neck is bolt on / removable, one of the more "agricultural" aspects of the construction, but really rather practical:

If I were doing this again though I think I'd just lay the cover on flush, rather than trying to inset - inlaying into end grain doesn't really work as it crumbles far too easily!

THAT is wonderful...I think of your first efforts in restoring that old Waldzither, your interim builds, and now this. What cool craft! Thanks for sharing it with us, in all kinds of ways.

Very, very nice. I love the soundholes and the colour scheme. Sounds great too. Are the fan frets hard to get used to?

Strangely easy - if anything I notice the change more going back to "square" frets!

Thankyou Mark! You'll be pleased to know that the waldzither is still going strong - though it may have just been displaced

    Another beautiful build John.
And you always find some great tone
    to build into them. Congrats.

Very beautiful craftsmanship Tavy & it sounds glorious. I could see a few musician friends of mine doing a double take & going cross-eyed at the sight of the frets & bridge angle - terrific !,

I don't know what they put in the water over across the pond, but the UK builders are putting out some phenomenal instruments these days (including this one)!

    Congratulations!

Those anchor hawse holes are downright shocking, and in combination with the fanned frets they give the instrument that alien look so you can tell everybody you woke up with it in Area 51, 2 days you can't account for after your car failed and there was a bright light above it...

Now that I think about that black/blonde color scheme, it becomes clear that all those alien encounters may be just ads originating at St James's Gate...
