    Default New Camptown Races

This is not my first post on this number, but I keep coming back to it. I darn near pick it each time I take out the mandolin. It has it all - that bluegrass mandolin tune feel, open strings, low notes, the relative minor, a 2-octave stance, rhythmic variations galore. Lately, I've been adding the chimes (with pick and 2nd finger) for the A part on the 2nd go-around, then trem starting on the high D note. The tune begs for improvisation.

    Thank you, Frank Wakefield.

There are a few YT videos of New Camptown Races.

I was wondering what's up with the green tape? over the headstock script on Franks Mandolin.

Ah, The Taping Of The ( ), a modern-day legend. Believe it started with Dawg, or maybe Frank. It has its birthright in what Bill did to the headstock several decades ago. My favorite take on it is when I saw Compton wearing a ball cap which read The (and nothing else).

Solid fiddle tunes in Bb are some of the best . I have been flirting with NCR for a bit and look forward to "bringing it out" . R/
