These are not easy to find. I'm looking for a set of Waverly "A" mando tuners and not having much luck. The Golden Age "F" tuners that StewMac sells look like post-1923 Waverlies, with the fleur-de-lis ends and screw on buttons.

The golden age tuners will drop in nice for an A mandolin (the wiggle end plates like on my f2).. Don will make a custom set of F tuners from those as well, but I thought there might be a cosmetically inferior but functionally superior choice out there

Kind of funny I didn't think of him already. We met up in London a few years ago and I got an F set for an eventual H5..

I am familiar with the Golden Age tuners, but I was asking about how much he charges to convert them to F style, if you happened to know.

I believe Mr Alessi does everything, himself . not convert the Stew Mac .

but if you want the backing plate to Look like the one pictured , that may be accommodated for you ,
it is a custom made item after all ..

Nicolo is a great guy and makes very nice tuners, if you wish, to your specs. Look at these (Loar type, for sale BTW):

Note that this (his recent) system would require enlarging the tuning post holes on the backside of the old mando's head stock for a few mms in depth.
