    Default Snark tuner vaporizing

I keep my tuner in the case with whichever mandolin I'm using at the time. Was needing to tune a few days ago, when I noticed that my Snark had vanished. Vaporized. Rendering it totally useless.
Has anyone else had this problem with their Snark? Can anyone recommend a tuner that doesn't become invisible after just a couple years?

    Thanks, Dave

Mine does this as well, although I have a 16-yo guitar player who helps the process. The good news is that it usually reverses itself and reappears. Well after you needed it of course...

Snarks are cheap enough that I try to have one per instrument, but they can still disappear at random times.

We won't even get into the battery that I know I replaced only a week ago, but is now low enough that I can't see the screen, although it's still on, sort of.

You should make sure you turn off the cloaking button before you put it back in the case. Happens to me all the time.

I have this theory that Snark tuners like to keep warm by crawling inside socks. They do this in private. This is why single socks seem to disappear from the laundry. They're being used as Snark snuggies. Two mysteries explained with a single theory!

Sometimes I just shake my head and wonder why they can't make a nice $6.98 tuner that will last more than a couple years......

Perhaps the Snark wants more respect. My cheap Snark tuners are lost daily. My $35 Bluechip is accounted for every minute.

Frm Celticdude - "Snarks are cheap enough....".What is a typical cost of a Snark tuner in the US ?. Over here in the UK they're typically around £15 - £18 UK ($23 - $28 US),not exactly cheap, but not bank busting either. I've used a Red Snark for 3 years now & i'm on my second battery.

A notable street in my Gold Rush-era county seat (Jackson CA) is the Vogan Toll Road. I always expect to see aliens with ukuleles hanging out there. Maybe there's a Snark stash in the vicinity.

About $10, so I guess that's just over 6 pounds or so. Basically the cost of a decent hamburger and a beer.

Nah, just the cost of a decent beer! A decent hamburger will run you a bit more.

I think they run off with slides, capos and other accroutements you don't need till you need them. Straps too.

Others were quicker on the draw, but yes, I've never paid more than $12, or about 8GBP.
