    Default Time for new frets?

This mandolin (link to two pictures below) apparently frets OK and has no buzzing, but I wonder if some of you knowledgeable types might advise me whether it seems like it's time for some fretwork, and maybe some ballpark idea of what a luthier might charge me for what's needed? I'm considering purchasing the instrument, and I'm not sure what to make of the fret condition.
    Thanks,
    Dan

Up to you. I have customers who would never let frets get that worn, but my personal mando frets are almost that bad. Just be aware that you'll need a refret sooner than an instrument with less wear. You said "apparently"; have you personally played it? Or are you going on the seller's description?

Just go for a fret dress. Your guy/girl can tell you better. Cost is ballpark 65ish. If it needs refret 200ish?? it depends. Maybe only a few frets need replace. They look a little flat - maybe just recrown. Many possibilities. But you will have a nice neck when done.
A full refret might include fb plane (optional).

I've got the same issue on mine. But mine maybe a little worse, I've raised the action a little to stop the buzzing once. Next time they start buzzing I'm send it in for EVO.

I've had stainless steel frets on 2 of my mandolins for several years now and they remain with hardly a dent with about 15-20 hours played per week. Before that, I needed a refret almost yearly.

Refret if the frets cause buzz, are hard to play, or make you unhappy.

No, there would be nothing left after a fret dress. If you have played it and it doesn't buzz, yet has normal action, fine. It will need a refret in the not-too-distant future, though. If you haven't played it [and I kind of assume that is the case] expect to have to refret it.
    I charge $200 for a partial refret, usually 6 to 8 frets.

I guess I missed the full length picture.
