Which is the best for McIntosh? Transcribe or Amazing Slowdowner?
"Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats." - Howard Aiken
This may not be much help for Mac, but i just evaluated both on PC, and it turns out to be a competition between the extra features in Transcribe! and a much, much cleaner interface in ASD. I ended up getting Transcribe! because i like the extra features enough to tollerate the bad user interface. The thing i like the most about Transcribe! is the ability to "annotate" the sound file in different ways (section, measure and beat markers and arbitrary text - i use it for chord names, for example, or to mark sessions i need to go back and work over again).
I think you should download both and use them for their evaluation periods. Better yet, use one for 30 days, then when it expires use the other one for 30 days, then buy whichever one you hate the least.
Do a search- this thread came up a few weeks ago (my vote is ASD)

You can get Audacity for free and it works great for slowing done tunes and keeping the pitch. I just started using it a few weeks ago on my G4 laptop and YES it is FREE!!!
Audacity does loops too... about the only thing it won't do is play CDs directly. It's a little more work, but it's free. Another approach is Winamp with plugins, that works too, but takes some research (Googling) to find the right plugins. But i'm glad i bought Transcribe (even though it's overpriced).
Just went here to download Audacity but it asked to choose a mirror. There is a uUS one but before I pick I would like to know what it is. Anyone know? John

Creativity is just doing something wierd and finding out others like it.
I'm using the Amazing Slowdowner on my G4 iMac and it works very well. You'll be amazed by how much you can accomplish even with the demo version.
