Does anyone have this mandolin? Do you like it? I just bought one.

I don't own one, but I played a Gretsch New Yorker at a music shop just a few days ago. It seemed to be a nice mandolin, with an attractive matt finish, good tone, and very good playability. Of course, these things are subjective. I have narrow fingers, so the relatively narrow neck on the New Yorker is an advantage for me but would be a disadvantage for others.

I seriously considered buying it, but I have played another mandolin at another shop, which I like even better. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Have fun!

Thank you for your comments. I have been looking for a while. I like the tone of the Gretchen. It is very warm. I think that has to do with the solid body.

Yep got the mahogany one. It's easy to play and has a decent sound. Great value for the price.

Actually I recently fitted it with an antler saddle bridge. Not sure if it makes a difference in the sound but it looks good.
