    Default Nava left-handed Standard Plus

    Hi Guys,
Here are some photos of my latest Standard Plus that was delivered to its new home at the weekend. It has English walnut back and sides and a red spruce soundboard.
No, the photos aren’t the wrong way around! It’s the first left-handed mandolin that I’ve built!
    Cheers Gary

Very nice Gary - stringing up left handed really twists the brain cells round doesn't it?

You’re right Guys, working on a lefty is a bit confusing. But as I said to the mandolin’s new owner, Mark, evidently, about 10% of the population is left handed so it’s logical that one in ten of my instruments should be left handed, but this is the first left handed mandolin that I’ve ever made and I have only made one left handed guitar back in 2009.
I find this quite surprising; you would think that being a custom builder of fretted instruments, players who can’t find a decent left handed guitar/mandolin would be seeking guys like me out???

Very beautiful workmanship once again Gary. The Walnut is positively incredible !. I'm sure that the owner is going to be overjoyed with it,as he should be,

Beautiful instrument -- please excuse the question since I don't often think of these things -- when you build a left-handed instrument, do you change the inside bracing?

The bracing on all of my instruments is asymmetrical, so yes it is different internally.
