Would a Snark All-Instrument Tuner tune a mandola?
Would a Snark All-Instrument Tuner tune a mandola?
It will. I use one for guitar, mando, Mandola and octave mando. All work well.

The only instrument it doesn't work on is a banjo.

Thanks!
I don't see why not.
Interesting about the banjo though, is that because of the way the body works and the vibrations don't travel up the neck quite the same way?
Or something else?
Would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?
My Red Snark works perfectly on my banjo. In actual fact,my banjo neck vibrates far more than the necks on any of my mandolins. It's only the fact that i need a telescope to read that darned thing that keeps me using my tuning fork for banjo,

I do use my Snark SN-8 on my guitar, mandolins, and mandola. Works fine on all of them.
On that subject, though, I find that it won't read the high E on my mandolins. If I'm checking intonation at the 12th fret, it just won't pick up my E string on that fret. Too high for the Snark, I guess.
BTW 2 ways that friends tune their banjos 1 is with a clip temporarily holding onto the Bridge
with a 1/4" plug into the tuner.
and a vibration sensing tuner sitting directly on the banjo head.

I use mine on my banjos, maybe that's why they sound so crap! I also use them on my didgeridoos, not sure if that works either but that's how I tune them during the build process...
banjo weighs too much, he couldn't keep the whistle in his mouth

The fellow I bought my Snark All-Instrument from said his son uses one to tune his flugelhorn. That sounds pretty "all-instrument" to me! I use mine on my ancient banjo-uke and banjo-mandolin, and much newer (but still old) five-string banjo, and banjo-head tin-pot Cümbüş o'uds, all with no problems. And a Cümbüş makes a banjo-uke feel like a solid piece of work. No tuning problems, nope.
