Anybody got any input on the possibility of finding an octave resonator mandolin by chance.
Thanks in advance,
RDB

If single strings work for you, a tenor guitar can be tuned like an octave mandolin given the correct sting gauges. There are both dobro and national versions often available.
A Tenortrope Dobro is a good choice for a 4-stringer...
Pretty sure Keith Carey makes a commodium OM. He's linked in the builder db. But if you have no idea what I am talking about, brace yourself before you look.

That is incredible. I'm flushed with enthusiasm after looking at the Carey built OM.

Gruhn apparently has one, a Tyler Mountain Asian import, if you don't mind the brass body.
These Tyler Mountains were all over eBay a few years ago; not currently being made, I guess, but this used one's $500. The resonator is the "biscuit bridge" style, like a National guitar or mandolin, rather than the "spider bridge" style, like a Dobro.
