Default New Morris A4 Case Fit Question

Hey folks! My new Morris A4 with a K and K twin mini pickup has arrived and it sounds amazing, plays incredible and looks sw--eet! I am going to do a longer post to informally review it, as I know some are considering Howard Morris' incredibly affordable domestic, custom made mandolins. In the meantime, i have a question:

As near as I can tell, this is a close replica (shape-wise) to a Gibson A from the teens. I have one in the family and it is very similar in shape and construction. The neck joint is at the 12th fret and thus my question about a case that will fit best. It tends to be too short for the HSC that I have, which fits my J Bovier A5 perfectly. However, the headstock of my new Morris rests slightly against the edge of the accessory compartment, which isn't ideal, since it could put pressure and cause damage, though very unlikely. What HSC have you used with a similar 10" lower bout and 12th fret neck joint A style? I am hoping to spend less that $100.

I would appreciate your knowledgeable input. Thanks for your time. Dan

I'll be happy to see the answer as well. I'm currently using the generic Musician's Gear foam case which is okay after lowering the neck rest/compartment. But my old Gibson would be happier in something else.

Cool on your Morris. I really like what he's doing, especially at his prices.
    Blow on, man.

Here's another idea-- Guardian hard, featherlite appears to have room beyond the neck rest at a shorter point in the case...

I order the Guardian case shown in the link above. I bought it at Amazon for around $48, which is the lowest price by far. If it doesn't fit, I will return it, but it appears to be forgiving for the shorter neck style. Thanks all!

That Guardian looks a lot like my Musician's Gear one. If so you'll want to lower the neck cradle and maybe add a ring of padding for a snugger fit. And you may still find that the very beginning of the headstock rests on the storage door. Serviceable but not optimal, at least for me. Plus, the thing is bulky.

Thanks for the heads up, spufman. I figured for that price, it would be protective nonetheless. The guardian tweed F style case that came with J Bovier fits pretty well, but there is that issue of the beginning of the headstock resting on the edge of the top of the accessory compartment. Oh, well. Someday I will spend the $200 it would take to cradle it right! Thanks the discussion.

I ordered the carrion a model mandolin case from Amazon. It holds the Morris pretty well. The storage compartment supports the neck and there doesn't seem to be any pressure on the headstock. There is extra room. A tighter fit would be more secure, but I think it will do what I need and protect it from accidental bumps and nudges. Not really heavy duty but reasonable for the price.

If it was roadkill, it would probably be flatter. If it was a brand name, which it is, I might talk to my marketing department. It should be capital "C" but only on a full size keyboard, not this annoying little pad.

I found another alternative. This case (CG-035-MA): Guardian Tweed, fits nicely for my Morris...
