Does anyone know of a few good Jam sessions in the Indianapolis IN area?
Does the Mandolin Society of Indy still exist? Seems their website is down...
Thanks!

Mando Zeek,
I cannot speak to the immediate Indianapolis area, but here are a couple of jams that aren't too far away from Indy.
the Lafayette Bluegrass Jammers meet at the Wells Center, 638 North St, Lafayette. On the first, third, and fifth (when applicable) Saturdays of the month from 5-11pm.
The Sheridan Bluegrass Jam is held on the 3rd Sunday of the month at the Sheridan Library, 103 W. 1st St, Sheridan.

Hope this helps!
Awesome, I'm not too far from Sheridan. I'll try and make it to that one for sure. Lafayette is a bit of a haul, I'm in the Pendleton area. Thanks DargDog!
For the last ten or so years there has been a Bluegrass Jam on Monday nights from 6 to 9 pm at Baker Park in New Castle. It is only during the summer and generally starts in early May and runs through early October.
Awesome Wayne, Ill definitely be going to that one. Its right out my back door, thanks!
Also if anyone is interested in meeting up to jam and kill the neighbors cats in the indy area. I'd be interested, as I'm attempting to leave the living room and play with some folks. I know a few tunes and chords...
Arthur's Music Store in Fountain Square in Indy has Tuesday night bluegrass jams...
I just moved from Bloomington, Indiana to the Boulder, Colorado area last summer. I seem to recall that Bob up at the Hedgehog Music Showcase may have had acoustic jams from time to time. You may email him through his website: http://www.hedgehogmusicshowcase.com/events.html
No promises. Bob gets from very good musicians up there on there way through Indiana. Get on his emailing list.
Bob does occasionally have jams. Went to one two weeks ago. The Hedgehog is a great venue. I've seen a lot of great acts there including Don Julin and Billy Strings twice. Another in a month or so. Absolutely get on the email list!
It ain't gotta be perfect, as long as it's perfect enough!
Would anyone be interested in a mandolin weekend, just very informal, where we all met at a campground like Turkey Run, Clifty Falls, or some private ground where we could all just camp, talk around a campfire, jam, drink beer, etc.? No big name performers or admission charges, just a bunch of mando enthusiasts meeting to have a good time. I think I could organize something like this and think it would be a blast. PM me if interested.

Ooh! Ooh! Me! Me! I am moving to Indy in a week from Atlanta, starting a new job. Was looking for jams in Indy. PM coming your way.

I would like to extend the invitation for everyone to join the new social group Indiana Mando-Geeks. A place where everyone from Indiana in love with mandolins can call home.
Also, my intent is to create a jam session list and links for the state within the group. If you know of any or have some suggestions. Let me know!
The Jam at Arthur's is pretty good but it needs more mandolin players. I went last week and was the only one. I've been taking the mandola because of the difference in volume.
cool, Im going to try and hit a few up at arthurs when I can. What time do they start?
Arthur's Jam starts at 5:00 on Tuesdays. Its inside if the weather is bad and outside if it is nice. It was in last night because the ground is a bit soft from the rain.
As far as I know, the Mandolin Society/Mandolindy is no longer active.

Mando_Zeek and I are getting together this Sunday April 12, 2015 (in the afternoon) somewhere on the North side (Noblesville?, Fishers?, Carmel?). PM either him or me if you'd like to join us. I am awful, so be forewarned.

The Irish Arts Academy of Indianapolis has a list of local sessions. I attended the Upland session regularly when I lived in Indianapolis (I'm currently in the UK) and enjoyed it greatly.

No financial interest! I swear!
Don Julin and Billy Strings are going to be performing this Friday May 8 at The Hedgehog Music Showcase in Arcadia, IN. Bob, the owner, is hoping that there is enough interest for Mr. Julin to give a mandolin workshop before the show.
If you are interested in either the workshop or show, please contact the Hedgehog. Www.hedgehogmusicshowcase.com
I told Bob that I, for one, would be at the workshop if it happens. Please join!
I'll be there.
Anyone interested in meeting up this Sunday? May 24th...
