    Default Cherry Burst Affinity???

I just came to the realization that half of my instrument collection consists of "Cherry Bursts." Now, this wasn't done consciously. Anyone else in the same boat? Post pics if this applies to you too...

Years back,a very well known & respected UK luthier,Mike Vanden, brought one of the most glorious F5 model mandolins to one of our UK BLuegrass festivals. It was fiished in a 'Cherryburst' that you needed shades to look at,the thing simply glowed. It's still one of the most memorable instruments that i've seen to this day. It was such a beautiful instrument that if i'd have had the cash to spare,i'd have bought it just to look at it.
An old Gibson instrument catalogue that i had around 1970 (ish),showed an F5 model in a beautiful 'Cherryburst'' finish as well.If it's done well to avoid it looking 'painted',for me a 'Cherryburts' can look amazing,

I dig them also. I've had an old two point that had one, and a Jerman electric solid body that had a beautiful cherry burst. On the right instrument, it's definitely one of my favorite looks.

I ended up noticing an unintentional accumulation of sunbursts. Two of the bursts have moved on from first photo. Second photo burst has joined the family.

From Tony - "What a job she did.". Would you expect anything else from Gail ?. That's a beautiful mandolin by anybody's standard,

If the original Gibson red sunburst is considered a "cherry burst", then I'm guilty as charged.

I don't know if this qualifies as a cherry burst (it's not a red as it looks in this pic) but I do love some block inlays!

Here's my contribution to cherry sunbursts show & tell. It's a Mann SEM-5, recently sold and a Tele w/ "atomic sunburst" finish by Rigel Instruments circa 2001.
