I'm sure many of the folks here have seen this, but it was a first for me. Awesome! He seemed like he was trying to contain his excitement. Instead of saying "HOLY CRAP LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE!!!!!" , he had to try to be proffesional

    You're right!
It would be hard to contain yourself for sure. I have dreams of finding one of these in a closet

A discussion from earlier today that contains the discussion from 2012 when it first aired can be found here. Great back story to this mandolin.

Thanks for all the other links about this. Very fun read. I am surprised we haven't heard anything about this mandolin in the last couple of years

Anybody know if the family has sold it yet? Remember the guy had already seen it and gotten a pro vintage guy to give the estimate before they sat down to tape it. So his WOW factor was much calmer by the time they videoed it. at that time I think he was low on price due to knowing if a dealer at the show was approached to buy it at the price knowing they would come down from that figure in order for them to make a bigger profit.

I am wondering what happened with the person/people who filed the false insurance claim, I am assuming the insurance company pressed charges?

A friend of mine went to a Farm auction in SW Minnesota not to long ago and ended up bidding $40.00 for a really nice condition old Gibson pumpkin top. He was the only bidder and took it home. Not a Loar but a great find for forty bucks! It can still happen, any body with a similar find?

It's been several decades but I once bought a 1947 Gibson L7 archtop for 20 bucks in a yard sale
