Default 22" scale length, electric something or another

AH, the parts bin! She is the Mother of Truly awful ideas.

She just spewed up a boat anchor Strat body of unknown origin and composition, and neck from a kid sized Maestro Flying Vee. Nut, headstock, and bridge are 6 set up for six string, but that is only a slight limitation, especially if worth is factored in.

Scale length is ~22". Ideally I would end up with SOMETHING SIMILAR to an OM or tenor. But it may actually be a door jam, or hat rack when finished.

If you are describing this accurately it wont work. The full size strat body has a fixed bridge position that cant be adjusted for scale length and is designed for a 25 1/2 inch scale neck. The short mini neck will not intonate correctly because the distance from the nut to the 12th fret must equal the distance fron the 12th to the bridge. In this case it wont even be close. Sorry but this is a no go from the get go.

    Don,

You are very correct. Nut to 12th fret is 9.5", adding 9.5" to that puts me almost exactly where the bridge pup is, making the scale 19". Now that I see what an awful idea this is, I am truly committed to it! Well, that is until I run out of parts and need to incur additional costs anyway.

Just plugged the holes in neck heel with dowels and will wait for glue to dry.

And kudos to you both for seeing the fun and folly in a winters project without peeing in the punchbowl. My planning wasn't poor, it was non existent!

Perhaps a fretless FB would work.

You know none of this would be happening if the V body wasn't the single most uncomfortable thing I have ever held! Not enough room for my picking hand to rest as I am accustomed to. And I look exactly like an out of shape, fat headed, old guy with a toy guitar when I play it

I will be blocking the bridge pickup route and temporarily setting a rosewood bridge (minus base) in place. I have a trap tailpiece, but may see how well the strings travel from the original Strat unit.

    Verne,

"Stupid" is Phase II, I have yet to complete Phase A: "Am I Actually an Idiot?". (my wifey has the answer to this question.)

I also left out a huge caveat: the "work" (term used loosely) shall not prevent the Strat neck and pick guard form going back on.
I will be posting some pics at lunch today of the progress.

    Developments (one quite revolton'!!!).

Strung up using a rosewood bridge of unknown origin. To fill the void in the pickup route I used a pickup! (more on that later).

Used some left over acoustic strings just to test alignment, action, etc. Zero relief, so I popped off the 3 screws on the trussrod cover and violin:

It might just work, yet! I like the idea of using what is at hand--that's why duck tape and WD-40 are so popular.....

    Darryl,

I'd appreciate that. I have torn apart and modded dozens of garage sale cheapos; but this is a first for me.

    Jeff

Thanks! And I couldn't help but wire up the pup under the bridge; it 'sees' a very, very small signal.
May wire it with real magnetic PUP for a laugh, but the levels will be remarkably different.
