Just heard this today by a 12 year old kid practicing
for a fiddle contest. He played it w/ the first chord
being Am. Since I never heard it before, the only thing
I got was an Am, C and I think a D. It then may have
    changed to C being the chord for the 2nd ( 3rd ? ) part
but I couldnt find the rest of the chords.
Great tune, anyone fill in the missing chords ?

    BTW, the kid was awesome

1st part, Am for 4 measures, passing E chord (2 times)
    2nd part, same (2 times)
3rd part, Am/Dm/E, one measure each (2 times)
    4th part, Am for 2 measures, C 2 measures, Am/E/Am
tag: Am, D major, E, Am

that's how I do it, anyway

HERE's the tabulature. Enjoy! (also check out tabedit files at www.mandozine.com but you'll first need to download and install the tabedit viewer program - freeware)

Get the CD "Kenny Baker Plays Bill Monroe" for the classic version of this tune.

    CJ,

Glad to help. That said, I took the tune from the mandozine tab file. Maybe I should run through the mandolincafe version too!
