I'm thinking about getting one of these for my KM900.
Just wondering if anyone has experience with one.. If so how was the quality?

I have not used one but if Siminoff carries it, I'd be willing to bet it's very good quality

The "Silver" tailpiece is the JAMES tailpiece, and it is the best tailpiece you can get.

There ya go. I didn't realize it was the James model. Even better. As Mike said, they don't come any better than that.

Nice! Thanks everyone. Does anyone know if the silver is a polished finish or matt? I prefer the polished.

It's a matte finish. They come in nickel as well. Still a matte finish but nickel may be brighter.

I believe that the "Siminoff" that you see engraved on the site, is only an example of the font that you can request for your own name to be engraved on the tailpiece....

Joey, Why would want your name on a Kentucky mandolin? Why not "Kentucky"? after all that is what it is... There are a lot of folks on here that don`t think a tailpiece adds anything to the sound so I just stay with what came on my KM-900...

Yeah, sure. How many of us truly think this will be your "main mando for years to come"?! Ah, grasshopper, have you never heard of MAS? Do you think you are somehow immune to its siren lure? True, you may never sell this KM900 mandolin, but if you continue to play and improve (and maybe even if you don't), your love of the mandolin sound will surely draw you towards other models and makers. And it may happen sooner rather than later: MAS strikes when we least expect it. And also when we expect it... Mark my words!
Anyway, it seems that cooler heads are advising you not to spend too much money on personalizing a tailpiece if you will ultimately seek to sell the instrument. You may or may not do that. But if I were you, I'd use the extra money to start saving for that next mandolin right now!
And meanwhile, enjoy your Kentucky KM900! Best wishes for the holiday season --a.k.a. the MAS season!!
I disagree entirely. There's a vast tradition of personalizing instruments, and the tailpiece cover, truss rod cover, and pickguards are just the place to do it. And with a name like Joey Anchors, and perhaps a nautical image - some future owner can wonder, 'who WAS this mysterious mandolin playing sailor?'
Love that anchor, Brad. What do you have for "Steve Smith" . . . ?
How about doing a Snuffy Smith cartoon? Steve.. https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2026/2...0f8b6f3da3.jpg
