Thread: Wish you were here

    Default Wish you were here

No matter what the next year will bring us, one thing is for sure: it will be the 40th anniversary of Pink Floyds "Wish you were here" album. When I bought the LP, it was out 4 years. How time passes...
With our little acoustic trio "Kitchen Kings" we cover the title track and I try to emulate some of Gilmour's guitar parts on mando (and adding some tremmolo)

Great job... I often wonder about several PF songs on mando... check out David Gilmours Meltdown Concert n Youtube.... Gilmour opening solo acoustic "Shine on You Crazy Diamond"... there's more goodies if you buy the i-phone app worth 4 bucks

Next you must do "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict"

Great. Always great to hear others play rock songs on mandolin. I have tried uploading a video here, but my technical abilities desert me, still hope to get it right.

Thanks to all! Alas, I have no tab, I played the chords by chord symbols and the lead by ear. Shouldn't be too difficult.

I'm feeling the same way when playing this song. Wish you were here (the LP record with the post card) was one of the first LP's I bought. Back then buying an LP record was a real investment, but that's another thread....

Very Nice....What key are you doing it in?

On a side note, all PF fans should know about a great concert DVD that came out in about 2007 (I think that was the year). It is called "Pulse", and is of a concert at a large venue in England that was recorded in 1994 (again, I think that was the year). It is two discs, and one of them is the entire "Dark Side of the Moon" music, with cool lights, video, effects, etc.

Even if you're only a casual fan it's a very enjoyable concert with a light show, etc. Should be easy to find.

BTW, my last name is Floyd, and I am frequently asked how I resisted naming one of my kids "Pink". Even though they were born in '86 and '93 I think they owned, and wore, just about every version of Pink Floyd shirt I ever saw.

My favorite Pink Floyd shirt has a pink picture of Floyd, the barber from the Andy Griffith show.

Also my kids have been subliminally programed as floyd lovers as they have had the Rockabye Floyd disk in the cd player for years and wont allow anyn change in the bedtime music
