A very cool story on PRI'S The World about a group of young boys selling mice on a stick by the side of the road in Malawi. They make their own four string guitars (tenor?) and sing.

A bunch of stuff with four strings
Outstanding find Charles. Reminescent of very early Ladysmith Black Mambozo or even the Lion of Soweto. It never ceases to amaze how the music will find a way to be expressed, even on an old coke can and a home made four string guitar.
Thanks again -
Mandola fever is permanent.
Mice on a stick? Are they chocolate-covered, at least?

That PRI story is lovely but the video is nice and you can also see the BBQed mice. Yum... Thanks, Charley!

They opened the Sunday show on the Banjo (main) stage at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in SF this fall. I hadn't heard of them before, and wasn't aware of the origin of the name. They were well received.
