    Default Unknown Manufacturer and Date

    Hi.

I'm new to this forum, and I have a quandary.

About 10 years ago I bought a mandolin from a guy who was selling it online. He'd bought it from someone else. I don't remember if he told me how old the instrument was or who made it.

At present I'm trying to sell it on eBay <Removed by Moderator, question answered> and someone has asked me when it was made. Of course, I can't tell him.

I've also looked all over the instrument and can't find anything to tell me the answer but not one marking that I could say would date it. I'm no expert, not by a long shot. I did try contacting what seems to be an expert, The Mandolin Brothers in New York, and they suggested I try asking here.

The eBay listing has pictures of the mandolin. If anybody has any idea about how old it it please contact me.

Mid- to late mid-century, '60s to early '80s, is my guess. Looks Suzuki-ish.

Yes, it does look like the Suzuki bowlback I have owned three months ago, for only 4 weeks (I sold it, hard to hold straight).
Good luck to your eBay sell.
