Just got Mandolin Exercises For Dummies. It has a lot on minor scales. I think I know now how David Grisman does it. Minor scales!

I just signed up for his intensive class at Wintergrass in February. Really looking forward to it although I don't have his book yet. I'll probably have a look through it then and decide if I want it. Haven't been able to buy any book that admits I'm a dummy

Don came through our area as a performer at the Champaign-Urbana Folk and Roots fest. He played with Billy Strings and led a workshop. I was a volunteer at another festival venue and missed the performance, but attended the workshop (using drone strings and continuous RH on a simple melody). This video is based on Don's lesson for Led Zeppelin's "Going to California".

Great book. I had the pleasure to meet and hang out with him at this past Mandolin Symposium. Wonderful guy, amazing player, and excellent teacher!
