I just saw at FQMS.com, that Eastman makes a fiberglass case. Does anyone have one? They are a pretty reasonable price, and I think I might want to but one. Any feedback would be cool. Thanks

Cool cases but not much room in 'em.

These cases look good at a distance....

I would not trust a High Quality instrument in them....

For a few dollars more a Bobelock or GWW would provide MUCH greater protection.

    Thumbs up

They are decent for taking to jams or festivles.Lot of bang for the $$ too.My only gripe was barely enough room for T1 tuner and picks inside.I'll get a yellow one for an upcoming A style mandolin. Lp

I own a couple of the F style. Overall I'm pleased, but they are a tight fit. They are what they are.

Please excuse my ignorance- what's a GWW case- and where can I find one? Are the bobelocks still poular? I remember a day where these were getting a lot of press. Are you guys still happy with them? Last question- do you know if these come specifically for an A style, or do you just have to put the a style in an f style case? thanks.

The number that I have on record is 1-800-874-2907.

I believe that this Jeff actually works out of the country as the case came from Costa Rica. When I talked to him one time a lady was on the phone who sounded really Non-American ( I dont mean that in a bad way) I had great success with them but a few people say they had problems with getting in touch with them?? Good Luck

I just saw a new Eastman guitar case that was a bad joke. Little more protection than a gig bag, the top would be totally crushable in a high wind.

The GWW cases are very nice.

I think the Eatman guitar cases are far better than "a bad joke".

Sure they seem flimsy when they are open but the arch, rubber gaskets and heavy duty latches make them quite strong when closed. Personally I think their weight/strength differential is equal to a five-ply wooden case.

The mando cases are a bit tight for some instruments, but again if the fit is right they offer a competitve alternative to a standard plywood case.

The case I just saw, which was brand new, had absolutely no arch to the top: zero. You could have crushed the top of the guitar with one light push on the top of the closed case. I of course didn't try it, but I felt as though I could plunge a blunt kitchen knife right through any surface on it, which one certainly couldn't do with a three-ply case, much less a five-ply case. Again, it had the structural integrity of a gig bag, with a bit more rain protection.

I have repaired string instruments professionally for more than forty years. Too often I see the consequences of really insubstantial cases, and I can spot those problems before they happen. The Eastman case I saw was a disaster waiting to happen. Fortunately this was obvious to both the seller and the new owner, and a real case is on its way.

The Fiberglass Eastman guitar cases I've seen have not been flat. Your description sounds unlike any Eastman guitar case I've ever seen, and I've seen them in every color.

Was it really an Eastman case?

Yes. Honest. Ask Eric Schoenberg, he sold it to a mutual friend of ours.

I've got an F-style fiberglass, and I , like most, like it alot except that it does not have a storage pocket/box. I thought Eastman was supposed to look into modifying the case for storage but I haven't seen any changes yet. I have asked Gordon Roberts (Eastman's main man around here) about it but I haven't heard back from him. I'm waiting for the change before I buy another.

I know this thread is a bit dated but, to any eastman fiberglass case owners. I thought that my case was a bit flimsy. When I held it by the handle, the rubber gasket would dis-align. I added a small drawbolt under the handle and could not be happier, eccept mabye with a peg. The mod was easy and, for the money I believe that these cases more than stand up in their price range. Just my $.02.
I wonder what normal people are thinking about?

So anyone with an Eastman A style fiberglass case that you are not attached to ---- I'm a looking. PM me if you have one to sell. Lp
