This is an Italian mazurka, written by Luigi Canoro who also wrote the better-known "Tra Veglia E Sonno", with which it shares some similarities. I have played the tune from the transcription of the original Di Bella arrangement which appears in Sheri Migano's invaluable "Mandolin Melodies". Sheri's transcription (and possibly the original score) is marked "Andante", and I am therefore taking it rather slower than one would "Tra Veglia" -- I think it suits the tune, too.

The images I have chosen show Queen Maria Cristina, the mother of the last king of Naples (and recently beatified by Pope Francis).
