I will be in Winston Salem N.C. next weekend working with our South East Exclusive Gibson Bluegrass Dealer. #Alan Bibey will be doing a workshop there on Saturday. #He is a good friend and it will be good to see him.

If any of our Cafe friends are available that weekend, stop by Jackson's Music and visit with us. #There will be plenty of inventory to check out. #I will have my Distressed MM and a couple other surprises you won't want to miss. #It will be a great time and a good time to see old friends and meet new ones. #See you then!
    Have a Great Day!

There was information posted last night about this and the Sam Bush workshop at FQMS. It's on the Cafe front page. See also Cafe News.

Do you need to preregister for the workshop or will there be enough room for all that walk in? I live out toward N Wilkesboro and I would love to attend. Thanks, Greg

I'm not sure about FQMS. I would love to, and they are pretty close to me but I will be in NC next weekend and the following week I will be at the "Lonesome River Band Music Fest" at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak Florida (ain't that a mouthful!!). For those who can make it there it will be a great time and I look forward to seeing you there. Anyway, being out for those two weeks will make it hard to be out again the next week. I'll just have to see what takes place.

Would love to come, but NC is a long way from Mon'gomery, Alabama. When are y'all comin' way on down South to Mon'gomery...the locals silence the "t" in Mon"t"gomery.

    Big Joe:

When are you coming to the left coast? Berkeley is pretty this time of year. And in the Summer it is perfect! There are a lot of us Gibson owners out here who may be looking for something new...

And please consider a New England visit - seems like there's already a strong "southern circuit" for mando players & builders, but there are also a lot of fans north of n.y.

I don't think you have to register for the workshops. I believe it is open to the public. It should be a good time. Alan is a Great guy as well as a great picker. I'm sure he will address all your questions as well as give a demonstration as to how the mandolin should be played. See you there!

The workshop was super - Alan and his fiddle player picked for about an hour, he played mostly his signature Gibson with the neck finish removed. He also had a plain vanilla MM in tow, which did not sound as strong, imo.

The Gibson folks were terrific - Joe Vest, Todd Wright were super nice and they gave out some goodies - T-shirst, strings, etc. I played Joe's brand new MM which was stunning. Got to pick with Skip Kelley and Chris Stanley. All in all, a great time sponsored by Jackson's Music in Winston-Salem, NC.

It was a great time. I really enjoyed getting to pick with Alan and Skip. Like Joe told me, it was very good getting to put faces with names now.

Look forward to future get togethers. I still get chill bumps thinking of playing that Loar.

thanks goes to Jackson's Music. I'll be returning possibly to make my next Mando purchase. And a thanks goes out to Gibson for the goodies and a really good workshop.

Yeah, man,it was great to see you again Skip. Your mandolins keep getting better and better. I overheard several folks comment on the quality and tone. Also, forgot to mention but Scotti Adams' old BRW 40 was in attendance. I didn't get to pick on it, but for a new mandolin, it had some presence, for sure.
