Would anyone know which version of Caravan (by Duke E.) is used as the sample for this song?



It sounds like a bossa nova cover at the beginning (something like this: https://play.spotify.com/track/6uBlJWYrR6hc6JMUZ9jeB6 ), and perhaps another version for the trumpet track and the breaks.

Particularly interested in the break between 2:20-2:36.

Don't know who did the sampled Caravan. It's one of the most performed jazz tunes, covered by all sorts of people, including some outside of jazz.

Caravan is associated with the Ellington orchestra and often (incorrectly) attributed to Ellington, but it was actually written by Juan Tizol, who played valve trombone in the Ellington orchestra and, for a period, with Harry James.

Tizol also wrote another jazz standard "Perdido," and quite a few other songs that were performed by the Ellington band. He was also a music copyist for Ellington.

Checking, I see that Ellington is listed as co-writer of "Caravan," but the main theme is said to have been Tizol's idea. Regardless, Tizol should be credited, along with the Duke.
